25 peeps

Filed under: Fun — by anshuljain @ 2:52 am

Apologies for the late posting, have exams coming up so cant help it. Anyways, here is something that you should like. Its something to promote your blog. Users submit their pics and after approval they are posted on the site with a link to your blog. If other users like your image and keep clicking on it, you stay on the front page. If you are lucky you might end up in the hall of fame. Its called 25 peeps since at any moment only 25 pics are displayed on the site. From 25peeps itself:

promote your weblog.

peeps are sorted by popularity, which is based on clicks and referals. when a new peep enters the roster, the least popular peep gets pushed off the site. with a bit of luck, though, it may end up in the big 25peeps.com hall of fame. go ahead and try it yourself!

Try it. Oh yea, its a referral link, the more users click on this link, more chances of your pic making it on the front page.

Heheh..you want to snub me…use Isolatr or Snubster

You dont like someone or infact you really hate him/her but just cant say it on their face. Fear not, 2 services called Isolatr(still in beta) and Snubster allow you to do just that. Isolatr promises to “help you find where other people aren’t”. For even more fun check their FAQ here, its really funny

Snubster is an actual, live service. It helps you notify people, and the world, that you are pissed off at someone. The “On Notice” feature tells them that they have committed an “infraction” and are in a suspension period. If they really screw up, you can state that they are “Dead to Me”. Just visit. Even reading through them will make you laugh.

Filed under: Fun — by anshuljain @ 12:48 am

From RunFatBoy.net

RunFatBoy is an easy to use workout system designed for beginners. No more intimidating images of people with ripped abs. No more complicated medical jargon. Workout plans are automatically updated for you. You can adjust your plan if it’s too intense.

Does…
Your stomach spill out over your pants?

Do your…
Legs rub together as you walk?

Have you recently…
Cut another notch in your belt?

Are you clueless about…
Lifting weights (which exercises, how much to lift, etc)?

Its still not launched but just the name sounds funny. Alas, it could only offer an actual workout.

EgoSurf

Today I tried Egosurf. Its basically a welcome distraction from work and doesnt serve any real purpose unless you really want to find out what are your ego points. It allows you to enter a search term and a link and queries google, yahoo and msn. You can configure all these options and much more through an ajax interface. It also does a deep search which means querying the top 50 results. So, without further ado, I present my egosurf points.

claimID

My online social security number. I recently got an invite for claimID. Its a service which lets you establish your online identity. You associate links with yourself after signing up and that becomes part of your public profile. Most of us do not require such a thing but maybe high profile executives. The links that you list signify that any other information on the internet that uses your name is not comfirmed. I have a couple of invites. Just leave your email in the comments to get one.
Hehe, this reminds of the prank that my friends played on me. As my name is anshul, they made a website with the URL http://www.anshul.tk and then sent an email to the whole college using my name. The problem was that whenever you tried going to the website, it automatically re-directed to http://www.ultrapasswords.com. Now, you sure know what is that. Dont you.:)

Leaked Photos of Google Data Storage

Most of us wonder where does Google store its data. Several such photos were leaked yesterday. Despite legal threats, Google has been unable to censor them.

Coastr..Beermarking

This is funny. Coastr is aiming to be the del.icio.us of beers. Yes, beermarking. From their site:

“Coastr is an experiment in social networking for beer snobs (meant as a compliment, of course!). The basic idea is for you to create a list of your favorite beers, and to connect you with other people with similar tastes. And those connections will help you discover interesting new brews that you might have not known about before. “Social beermarking”, if you will.”

This is nice. Now soon we will have ajax powered cricket marking or maybe some Web 2.0 drinking. The point here howeveris that how web 2.0 applications are branching away from the early adopter crowd. This brings into my mind my Technology and World Change class where the prof showed us a graph which had a S-curve and showcased the different categories of individuals who adapt a technology fast and those who dont. This is exactly what is happening now. Look at Connotea for researchers and clinicians or Postgenomic for life science blogs. Both of these show how web 2.0 can be used for audiences outside the normal geeky ones. Or look at Carspace, a network for car enthusiasts or Cingo and Minti, soon to be launched family 2.0 services.
